Terms of Service
Last updated: 24 June 2026
Agreement to terms
By accessing or using Readplace ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Description of the Service
Readplace is a read-it-later web application that lets you save article URLs and read them later. The Service is provided by Proficient Pty Ltd in Australia.
Accounts
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You must notify me immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised use.
Subscriptions, billing and renewals
Readplace starts with a free trial. After the trial, continued access requires a paid subscription: a $49 per year annual plan, billed through my payment processor, Stripe. The subscription renews automatically each year unless you cancel it.
You can cancel at any time from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — you keep full access until then, and you are not billed again.
If your trial ends or your subscription lapses, your account becomes read-only: you can still view and export everything you have saved, but new saves — from the web app, the browser extensions, and AI assistant connectors — pause until you reactivate. Stripe processes your payment; I do not store your full card details.
Using Readplace with AI assistants
Readplace offers a connector (an MCP server) that lets an AI assistant save and read links in your queue on your behalf. When your subscription is inactive or your trial is nearly over, the connector may return subscription reminders and a link to renew. Renewal is always completed by you.
Any payment is processed only through Stripe, using a payment method you have provided and authorised. I do not charge you, and I do not authorise an AI assistant to charge you, without you completing checkout or otherwise explicitly authorising the payment. An assistant cannot take out or pay for a subscription on your behalf of its own accord.
Refunds and your consumer rights
My goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes those guarantees. If I fail to provide the Service you have paid for, you are entitled to a remedy, which may include a refund.
If you believe something has gone wrong with your subscription or a charge, contact me at readplace+legal@readplace.com and I will put it right.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers.
- Use automated means to access the Service beyond normal browser extension usage.
Your content
You retain ownership of the URLs and metadata you save to Readplace. Readplace does not claim any rights over your content. You can export or delete your data at any time.
Service availability
I aim to keep Readplace available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. I may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, Readplace and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
Termination
You may close your account at any time. I reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Changes to these terms
I may update these terms from time to time. I will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Victoria, Australia.
